God’s Measure is Endless

How are you measuring your life?  Are you using the measurement of the world:  A foot, a yard or a mile?  Are you thinking, “I can only go this far and no more”?  Are you measuring it by God’s possibilities and ability or are you measuring it by your standards?  The main question here is, Are you measuring your life by faith or by fear?  Is there something in your life that you know must be addressed in order to move forward, but you are afraid to tackle it?  You say you can’t do it, but God says you can!!!    Philippians 4:13 “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me (I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency)”.

Letting Off Steam!

My mother is a wonderful piano player. I say “is” because after passing on to the other side in 2008 to be with the Lord I’m sure He immediately got her busy playing His tunes.   I grew up with the sound of the piano morning, noon and night.  Happy, sad or mad at one of us kids, my dad or grandpa , she’d sit down and play that piano until she could cope with whatever was happening.  I remember covering my head with the bed covers at 11:00 at night so I couldn’t hear her playing, so I could get to sleep!

Thought Control

I wrote these notes on thoughts quite a few months ago.  I was at a restaurant and my waitress had forgotten to bring something that I had ordered, so I reminded her.  She seemed pretty distressed and her comment was “I don’t know what is wrong with me. I ‘ve been forgetting things all day.  It is really bothering me.  I just can’t think straight.  There must be something wrong with me.”  So of course, in my mind a conversation was forming about starting your day out with God’s Word and getting His direction and plan for the day.  When you do that He will help you with your thoughts and your day will go much better.  She of course was way too busy waiting tables for me to introduce this to her.

God loves you.  He does not want you to worry.  I Peter 5:7 tells us to cast our care onto Him.  Just like an avid fisherman who casts his line out into the water – very confidently and probably with a special spin put on it so his lure lands just in the right place, God wants us to cast our cares upon Him.  Be confident like the fisherman.  Know that you have cast those cares upon the Lord and you are not reeling them back.  The way we do that is by using His Word.

“Vine Talk”

John 15:5 “ I am the vine; you are the branches.  Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit.  However, apart from Me (cut off from vital union with Me) you can do nothing.”

This is the scripture you will see on the wall as you walk into our front glass door at Cornerstone New Testament Church.  This is what we believe.  Without God we are nothing.  Without the shed blood of Jesus Christ, His death, burial and resurrection, we do not have eternal life in Heaven.  We believe that you have to have a personal relationship with Jesus (be born again) to be with him in eternity.

I am very blessed and honored to be given the opportunity to write this blog.  I have been a member of Cornerstone for many years and have learned much under the ministry of Pastor Tom and Tammy Underwood.
